Waldorf inspired,

Child-centered,

Nature driven.

Childhood is a sacred time and space. We advocate for its protection and seek to elevate it with intention.

The Little Birch Tree Nest is an in-home program for ages 3-6. A home away from home to nurture and enrich the young child’s growth and development.

Connection.

To self and each other

Children strengthen their connection to each other and themselves through being part of healthy communities, emphasizing collaboration, and learning that nurtures mind, body, and spirit. We find strength in doing things together, allowing for autonomy and mastery in the process. We seek to instill a sense of belonging, trust, and wellbeing.

Reverence.

For childhood and nature

We care for ourselves, our environment, and one another while honoring the formative years of childhood as a space in time that is unhurried and respected. The beginning is where we lay the foundations of life and play is the work of the young child! In support of this we provide ample time and space in nature combined with abundant indoor gross and fine motor learning opportunities.

Wonder.

For life and learning

The beginning of all science is a sense of wonder. Albert Einstein said, “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.” Wonder and curiosity lay the foundation for a love of life long learning. Children construct their own knowledge through meaningful experiences, contextualized through their play, that bring wonder.

“If we give children enough space and possibilities for free movement, they will move as beautifully and gracefully as animals; nimbly, simply, confidently, and naturally

Nourishing head, heart, and hands.

At the Little Birch Tree Nest we grow, harvest, and cook our food together. Using organic whole foods nourishes the whole child and sustainable choices help us protect our environment.
